I was skimming through Amazon, looking to see if they might have a good price on facial tissues when I came across... ready? REUSABLE TISSUES.
Maybe I'm a little behind the times (?) but we used to call these handkerchiefs. And everyone had them. Men carried them in their pockets, women carried them in their purses or apron pockets. They were used and washed and used again.
Those were mainly the kind you took to church or tucked into the breast pocket of a suit. Bandannas were stuffed into the back pockets of working men. Women made handkerchiefs from pieces of cotton material for themselves and the kids, often from the rag bag or leftover material from sewing projects.
Now we buy them, ready made and one of their selling points is that they can be washed and reused. Someone should have told Grandma.
