Facial tissue boxes

Warning: extremely frugal tip ahead.

When you buy facial tissue, look for a pretty box that matches your office or kitchen colors. When the box is empty, cut off the top and use the bottom to store things. I have a facial tissue box with red apples and roses on a green background which holds my stash of pens, pencils and markers on the back of the office desk.

Use the cut off top and cut bookmarks from it. Bookmarks are usually 5 to 6 inches long so you can get two from one box top.

  1. Tissue boxes also make wonderful gift boxes too, just a little paper tissue lining for your gift and a little bow on top is all you need!

  2. Two good ideas in one! Thanks, I reuse the smaller square tissue boxes by carefully opening one side, refill with a roll of soft toilet paper with the center cardboard tube removed. I use small left over self stick velcro scraps on the side panel to reseal it. The tissue pulls up from the middle and the length can be adjusted. It can be refilled many times and cost only 25 cents. Ruthellen

  4. Using them for gift boxes is a great idea, too. (Sorry, didn't see this one at first.)

I'm going to have to start saving more of them, I can see. :)

  5. We keep these tissue boxes with the lids left on to put plastic shopping bags in and put them in the car to there is always a bag for storage or trash.

  6. A.Harris, I keep the regular tissue boxes to store plastic bags in my pantry. It takes up a lot less room and they're easier to deal with. Great tip for the car, thanks!

  7. We use one to keep our plastic bags in - they pull out one at a time - I have reusable grocery bags but sometimes not enough when we go big shopping and I like to keep the ones we end up getting neat and handy to line our smaller garbage cans [and not have to buy little bags]

And I see Pat already said this. OOPs....well I already typed it. LOL
