Checking in...

I've been out of commission lately due to surgery so I apologize for not updating this blog personally. I am grateful for guest posts that allowed it to continue somewhat. Some of these guest writers are pretty good!

But everything else aside, it seems to be a time of disaster or potential disaster. For everyone affected by the severe weather in the south, my heart is with you. It's so frightening to see nature become violent.

Wednesday, April 27, marked another tragedy in that David Wilkerson, author of "The Cross and the Switchblade" and "The Vision" and the founder of the NY Times Square Church, died in a head on accident. The tragedy is as much in the fact that his passing was mostly ignored by the media, yet this man did more to change more lives than any politician has in centuries.

More and more it seems like we're living on the edge. I've been checking over my "bug out bag" and looking at emergency supplies. Earthquakes, tornadoes, personal tragedies... we can't control them, but we can be aware and prepared as much as possible.

  3. Hope you heal fast! Hope you are OK!

I have been thinking myself about emergency prep. Time to go through my stuff and see what I have and need to replace! I did this two years ago so it is time to once again do a checklist.

  4. Thank you!

Emergency supplies expire, too - at least some of them do. I hate to spend the money, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

  5. Good Lord Pat. I didn't know...certainly need to be in prayer for one another but I understand....I had added you to my latest article on Factoidz on Sleep Deprivation so I hope you have a look at it....Lord I pray for Pat right now for a short recovery period and quick healing. In Jesus Name - Amen!

  6. Thanks, Bevlion. I'm healing up nicely and the Lord was near all through it. I think I already read your Sleep Deprivation article, but I'll check to make sure.

  7. Pat I hope that you are ok. We had terrible winds here in Ottawa, Ontario Canada and was hoping that everyone down there is ok. I am so mighty shocked just now about David Wilkinson that I started to cry. I saw him a few times on youtube.com and a great preacher. I am in shock and thought that I would drop you a line. Take care.

  8. Joy Ann, I started to cry about David Wilkerson, too, but the Lord reminded me quickly that he was ready to go home. Although he will be missed here, he truly is in a better place and that's not just an empty idea.

Everything is OK here. Storms missed this area by quite a bit, but it's going to be cold tonight, freeze advisory warning. There goes my apple tree. :(

  9. The worse part is that I didn't even hear about it through my usual Christian circles...Lord have mercy on us all...but I know God has someone out there to take up his mantle.

  10. Bevlion, I think that he did what God set him out to do and his work here is done. Carter Conlin, who is senor pastor of the Times Square Church now, is a powerful preacher
